Excel’s Recruiting Division attended the Ethical Recruitment Training hosted by United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) on September 7, 2022. The delegation was headed by Ewan Shanks, Vice President of Client Services and Recruitment.
Excel joined other representatives from the private sector and stakeholders in this undertaking. Among the highlights of the training was a workshop to introduce the international principles on ethical and fair recruitment among the Guyanese private sector employers and recruitment agencies.
Excel’s active participation in the event is a testament to its commitment to supporting the country in achieving its developmental goals.
“We appreciate the inputs of the training in building our knowledge base in recruitment. With decades of experience in leadership, we value being proactive in the ever-changing business climate, and the training further expanded our understanding of ethical and fair recruitment. This would help enhance our processes and systems, and, in doing so, we are confident that we employ the locals following these tenets,” Ewan elaborated.
The training was an offshoot of the invitation extended by IOM and PADF to Excel for a workshop among private sectors and stakeholders on labour migration in Guyana. Through the workshop, the participants discussed existing and needed mechanisms to hire migrant workers. In the process, the workshop was able to highlight key issues, challenges, and opportunities in recruitment in the country.
Shanks further explained, “Excel is honored to be part of the training. By sharing our experience in recruitment, we help key decision-makers in shaping the future of employment in the country.”
